Celebrity Chef's House Sold by the Team at Mount Waverley!
The Mount Waverley team had the privilege and honour of auctioning the family home of one of Australia’s most renowned and successful celebrity chefs recently. Beverley Sutherland Smith, a stalwart in the Australian hospitality industry, began her business in 1967 after discovering her passion for cooking, has published and sold 27 cookbooks worldwide and the Beverley Sutherland Smith Cooking School was the winner of the Monash Business Award for Micro Home Based Business 2002-2003. Given the importance of the event and the interest garnered in the beautiful property, the auction was themed to coincide with Beverley’s passion; cooking! Auctioneers and agents from Mount Waverley donned traditional chef garb as a nod to the sense of occasion and also Beverley’s success in this industry throughout her career.
The event was a roaring success with in excess of 100 people attending the auction with a stellar result! Massive shout out to Mark Brown who went above and beyond for Beverley and her family to deliver an outstanding result. This result is evident in the glowing testimonial Beverley has given to the team at Mount Waverley. Well done team!
Before putting my house on the market, I spoke with a number of local real estate agents. I finally chose Stockdale and Leggo as I believed they have such a strong presence in this area, understand the clientele looking to buy around here very well and gave me a very professional outline of what to expect in the lead up to and the day of the auction. The quality of street boards, marketing, brochures and advertising were excellent.
As I work 7 days a week, I need to be confident that everything would be well organised without my having to be concerned at any aspects of the handling of this sale. At all times, I was treated with great courtesy and friendliness. My expectations were not only met but surpassed. They took over everything with such organisational skill that I did not have to do a thing except obviously keep the house looking as good as possible for inspections.
Before the auction, a meeting was held and all the possibilities that may occur on the day discussed so there would be no last minute surprises.
On the day of the auction, a large team of Stockdale and Leggo agents arrived and spoke to bidders, constantly moving through the crowd but the hardest working man was Mark Brown. He was brilliant and kept the auction alive and the crowd entertained. Mark managed to keep the auction moving at all times and eventually it reached a sale figure well above the reserve. Altogether, a very smooth and highly organised day. I was very happy with the team from Stockdale and Leggo and thoroughly recommend them and their caring and professional attitude both on the auction day and the days preceding it.
